Hi!
DOGSPEED is me, Kaia Wilson (she/her they/them). I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), Certified Separation Anxiety Pro Behavior Consultant, & Family Dog Mediator (FDM) who has been working with dogs professionally since 2013. I have high hopes for changing the way people see and understand our (captive) canine comrades!
My mission as a dog trainer is to provide human dog guardians with a clear understanding of how dogs learn, techniques and protocols for affecting behavior using fun, compassion-centered methods, and to support the human side of the relationship while we go on this journey together.
I firmly believe in putting yourself in their paws. Treat your dog as you would like to be treated - I apply this golden rule to my own dogs and my dog clients.
Alongside dog training, I am also a lifelong musician. I am still active in with my band that started in 1993, Team Dresch, and I am currently composing a rock opera based on my wife’s rescue dog, Ponyo. I'm hoping to merge my love of dogs with music, and also move myself up a notch in Nerdy Gay Life Endeavors (which include winning a gold medal in ping pong at the Gay Games, working on Canine Freestyle dance moves with my dog Pocket, and still really digging dancing to the band Erasure).
I split my time between Portland and Los Angeles with my wife, Nicole, and our dogs Ponyo (a blind pomchi who is the actual boldest dog I’ve ever known), Pocket (a border collie rescue who has the most sublime submissive smile) and Lirael (a chihuahua who was born feral & who doubles as a fawn).
